B-YoND (Newcastle Sixth Form College)

B-YoND is a group of aspiring young individuals, providing a youth perspective of international disaster awareness in coordination with the UN on domestic and foreign disasters and demonstrating an understanding on our population power to limit future occurrences, therefore protecting the people.

B-YoND is based out of Newcastle Sixth Form College and was formed in September 2015, in the after of the successful joint event between Newcastle Sixth Form College and the DDS.

Disaster and Development Network (DDN)

The Disaster and Development Network (DDN) aims to develop through research, teaching and learning, the knowledge and skills to address hazards, disasters and complex emergencies from the perspective of different development debates and experience.

Northumbria University launched the DDN in 2004 in association with its acclaimed postgraduate programme in Disaster Management and Sustainable Development.

The vision of the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) is the meaningful participation of children and youth and their organisations, networks and committees at all levels – local to international – in decision-making on sustainable development.

The MGCY envisions a world in which children and youth are planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating policies aimed at achieving sustainable development.
